
Stewart Sutherland is an environmental chemist and water process technologist with 13 years’ experience in the water industry. With a specialism focussing on membrane water treatment technology, he has worked in numerous roles in Scottish Water including water treatment operations, asset management, investment planning, risk management and water quality technical support.
Stewart is now the Leader of the Water Asset Capability Team and has responsibility for a team of technical experts in water treatment that are studying all of Scottish Water’s 233 water treatment works to ensure they are delivering high quality water, at the desired quantity, at all times. These studies are being used to identify investment requirements for the next 25 years, whilst also addressing the challenges presented by climate change and the changing characteristics of source waters in Scotland.
