Stephany Wei is a doctoral student at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. Her work focuses on the advancement of nutrient removal and recovery processes. She is working on research to understand how aerobic granular sludge can be applied to intensify existing wastewater infrastructure and why granules naturally occur at some activated sludge treatment plants. She is also developing a sensor technology for online monitoring of phosphate ions and to use ORP for enhanced feeding control with the aim to optimize the biological phosphorus removal process. Her talk will cover projects on aerobic granular sludge from lab and pilot systems to full-scale applications.
