Welcome Reception hosted by YWP Korea
IWA YWP South Korea invites you to join them for a welcome reception dedicated to young water professionals!
The YWP welcome reception will be hosted at the Hotel Interburgo Daegu, located right in front of the conference building, on Tuesday 30 May from 18:00 onwards. The dress code is free, whether you would like to wear casual clothing or business attire. Attending this event is free of charge, the participation is sponsored by YWP South Korea Chapter.

Key Sights and Information
The ARC

ARC stands for Asia Culture Center, which is a multi-purpose cultural complex located in Daegu. It was established in 2015 to promote cultural exchange and understanding between different countries and regions in Asia. The Asia Culture Center houses various facilities, including exhibition halls, theatres, conference rooms, and educational spaces. It hosts a range of cultural events and activities, such as art exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, and workshops. The centre also offers residency programmes for artists, scholars, and researchers.
Daegu National Museum

The Daegu National Museum showcases the rich history and culture of the region through its extensive collection. The museum’s exhibits cover a wide range of topics, from ancient artefacts and traditional art to modern history and culture. It is located near the historic site of Gyeongsang-guk, the ancient capital of the Gyeong-sang province. The museum’s permanent collection includes over 28,000 artefacts, including ancient pottery, metalwork, sculptures, folk art, and contemporary art. The museum also features a variety of interactive displays.
Seomun Market

The Seomun Market is a must-see location, which is offering visitors a glimpse into traditional Korean market culture and an opportunity to sample local street food for the best price. It is one of Korea’s “Big 3” markets, with over 4,000 merchants and stalls, and has existed in some form for 400 years. If you crave a bowl of fishy kalguksu noodle soup or some nabjak mandu dumplings, the sellers here will make it for you in seconds.
Daegu E-World

Daegu E-World is a theme park located in Daegu, South Korea. It features a variety of attractions, including roller coasters, water rides, and a large Ferris wheel. The park also has a range of entertainment options such as a 3D movie theater, a laser show, and a parade. Daegu E-World is also home to several themed areas, including a European-style village, a safari zone, and a sports zone. The park is a popular destination for all visitors.
Donghwasa

Donghwasa, a vast complex of Buddhist temples, is located about 45 minutes north of Daegu. The complex was begun around 493 AD on the slopes of Mount Palgongsan and is a prominent centre of Buddhist study on the Korean peninsula. The temple complex is known for its beautiful architecture, stunning natural surroundings, and cultural significance. Visitors can explore the temple grounds and take in the beautiful views of the mountains and forests. The temple is also a popular destination for hiking and outdoor activities, as it’s close to several hiking trails and scenic areas.
Green Spaces

Daegu City has established several green spaces, including parks, gardens, and forests, to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. The most prominent green space in Daegu is the Apsan Park, which offers stunning views of the city and surrounding mountains. Apsan Park offers various hiking trails that range from easy to difficult. The trails wind through lush forests. The most popular trail is the Apsan Park Trail, which takes about 2-3 hours to complete and leads to the summit of Mount Apsan.
Eco-friendly Transportation

Daegu City has implemented several measures to promote eco-friendly transportation, including bike-sharing programmes, electric vehicle charging stations, and the expansion of public transport. The city has also introduced hydrogen-fuelled cell buses. In addition, Daegu City has made significant efforts towards sustainability in recent years, with a focus on reducing GHG emissions, promoting renewable energy, and creating a greener city environment.
Daegu Modern History Streets

Daegu Modern History Streets is a cultural district that showcases the city’s modern history and architecture. It is a designated cultural heritage site that consists of six streets in downtown Daegu. The district features a unique blend of traditional Korean architecture and Western-style buildings, which reflects Daegu’s history as a center of trade and commerce during the early 20th century. Visitors can explore the streets and see various historical buildings that have been preserved and restored to their original condition.
